Membrane Production
Feedsee Materials : Membrane Production : Hollow fiber membranes separate mixtures of gases by permeating molecules through fibers
Air Products is doubling manufacturing capacity at its St. Louis membrane production plant. The expansion will provide the additional capacity to meet membrane product demand from major market applications. The facility produces advanced proprietary hollow fiber membranes which separate mixtures of gases by permeating molecules through membrane fibers at varied rates. PRISM membranes can separate oxygen from nitrogen in compressed air. The company's membranes are used to dry air and natural gas and to recover industrial process gases such as hydrogen. Membrane applications range from producing gases to inert fuel tanks aboard aircraft, to use in coal mine methane recovery operations, for use in enriching oxygen for railway passengers, and to produce nitrogen for blanketing chemical, methanol and liquefied gas shipments.
